Summer Reading guidelines, prizes, and sponsor information.

The Fremont Area District Library's Summer Reading Program begins on Friday, June 5th. All ages are welcome to come in and sign up on or after June 5th to begin earning prizes for reading. The Summer Reading Program is important in helping to prevent the “summer slide,” which is the tendency for students to lose some of the achievement gains they made in school the previous year. Part of our library's mission is to inspire lifelong learning, so we include all ages (including adults) in our program. Grab some books, earn fantastic prizes, come to our free events this summer, and have fun reading!

Children's Summer Reading Program (June 5th - July 31st)

Children can log reading info in 20 minute increments, and will earn prizes after 3, 6, and 9 hours of reading. Return children's reading logs by July 31st. Prizes include:

3 hours: Coupon for a personal pan pizza and a coupon for free ice cream
6 hours:  Pterodactyl glider toy
9 hours: New book, Whitecaps, Rise, and & Griffins passes. Plus, gain entry into grand prize drawings for an RC car, a free birthday party at NorthPointe Gymnastics, a $100 Meijer gift card, or a Pokemon Box, Robot Coding Kit, & Pokemon Demo Deck! To enter additional grand prizes for a VIP party for 8 at Craig's Cruisers, Meijer Gardens, West Michigan Whitecaps, or Celebration Cinema, and Priority Health & Air Zoo prize package, return your reading logs by July 22nd.

Teen Summer Reading Program (June 5th - July 30th)

Summer Reading Guidelines

  • Read library books (print or digital) and for each book you complete, write the title on your reading log, and complete a prize drawing slip.
  • 2 graphic novels = 1 book; Books over 500 pages & audiobooks over 12 hours = 2 books
  • Complete and turn in materials by 5:00 p.m. on July 30th

Alternative ways to count 1 book on your reading log:

  • You may count one of the methods below ONLY ONCE on your reading log by writing what you did as a title.
  • Donate food or school supplies to the front desk of our library for TrueNorth’s Hunger Prevention or Tools for School programs. Please make sure food is non-perishable and not expired.
    OR:
  • Attend a Summer Reading event.

Prizes

  • Read 4 books: coupon for ice cream from Koffee Kuppe
  • Read 7 books: coupon for Spanky's pizza
  • Read 10 books: king-size candy, order a free book, and get entry into grand prize drawings for a $100 Meijer gift card, $100 Walmart gift card, or an RC car
  • Each book read also gives you entry for your choice of multiple prize drawings (see list below)
  • If you'd like to continue, you can can keep reading for more raffle entries, but not for more of the prizes listed above. (Limit of 10 more raffle entries, and limit of 1 grand prize entry.)

Amazon, Firestorm Gaming, Pokemon or D&D merchandise, Walmart, STEAM, Nintendo, Starbucks, Wesco, Tractor Supply, Visa, NorthPointe Gymnastics, bluetooth speaker lamp, NCCA-Artsplace, Dunham’s, Meijer, Barnes & Noble, and Pizza Hut!

Adult Summer Reading Program (June 5th - July 30th)

Summer Reading Guidelines

  • Read library books (print, digital, audio) and for each book you complete, write the title on your reading log
  • Books over 500 pages OR audiobooks over 12 hours count as two titles
  • Complete and turn in materials by July 30th

Alternative ways to count a book (you may count one):

  • You may count one of the methods below ONLY ONCE on your reading log by writing what you did as a title.

  • Read 10 books: king-size candy and entry in grand prize drawings ($100 Meijer gift card, 6 month membership to Tamarac, or a gift basket full of local gift cards donated by Paulsen Heating & Cooling)
  • If you'd like to continue, you can keep reading for more raffle entries, but not for more of the prizes listed above. (Limit of 10 more raffle entries, and limit of 1 grand prize entry.)

Raffle Prizes (You Choose Your Prize Entries!)

  • Each book you read gains you entry into prize raffles of your choice: Blades Hair Design, CBD Store, Cocoa Butter & Cash, Dogwood Center, Tamarac, Eye Care One, Fremont Cat Lounge, Rec Center, Geers Family Chiropractic, Meijer, Moon Dance Cafe, NCCA-Artsplace, NCATS, NorthPointe, Walmart, Visa, Barnes & Noble, and Firestorm Gaming.
