About the Library
The Fremont Area District library was established in 1996 and serves the City of Fremont, the Fremont Public School District, Dayton Township, Sheridan Township, and Sherman Township. The mission of the Fremont Area District Library is to provide resources and technology that inspire lifelong learning, challenge the imagination, and foster enjoyment.
There are several meeting rooms available for use in the library:
- Five study rooms are available for individual or small group use.
- The Community Room is available for reservation by large groups.
- The Upper Level Conference Room is available for reservation by small groups.
Please fill out a meeting room reservation form if you'd like to reserve the Community Room or Upper Level Conference Room.
Getting a library card:
Patrons must come into the library to register for a physical library card. Adults must bring their driver's license or state I.D. and live within the Fremont service area. Library cards can be used in most of the surrounding areas. Parents/guardians need to be present when registering their minor children for a card, and children getting a card must also be present. Student cards are also available as an option. Please call the Circulation Desk at (231) 928-0240 if you have any questions about getting a card. You also have the option to apply for a library card number online here.
You can use your library card at any library in our Lakeland Library Cooperative (excluding the Grand Rapids Public Libraries and Kent District Libraries). Please see the directions for Shoutbomb if you'd like to receive your library notices via text messaging, such as hold pickup or overdue notices.
