Do you have time to Volunteer?

The Used Book / Gift Shop needs you!

Do you have 2 hours per month or 2 hours per week that you could give to the Friends of the Library? If so, we need you to help staff the Gift Shop! That's all it takes!

If you like books and people, you will love this job. Stop in the Gift Shop and pick up an application. There is a short training session and before you know it, you are a member of the staff.

It's fun, entertaining and you get a preview of the newly donated books!

The Friends of the Fremont Library celebrated its Used Book/Gift Shop’s 10th year anniversary on July 15th in the lobby of the library.  And, if you missed it, you missed a fun time. The committee of Sue Delaney, Peg May, Jean Schuler, Marj Salata and Arleen Frost filled the afternoon with giveaways, a guessing game, food and drink and balloon animals.

The wrought- iron tables lent the lobby to a “French café” theme. Colorful balloons and a very special centerpiece created by Jim Rynberg created a festive air.  Mark Frost and daughter Ava from Grand Rapids fascinated the children (and adults) with creative balloon animals, hats and flowers.

The Friends of the library thank all of the many volunteers who have worked so hard in the Gift Shop over the past 10 years. The library staff deserves a thank you as well for their support and help as requested.  Since the opening of the Gift Shop in 2000, funds from the shop combined with funds from membership and the annual book sales have allowed the Friends to make donations of more than $102,000. These funds have enabled the library to offer programs that would not otherwise be possible.  Some of these programs include the summer reading for children, teens and adults and the purchasing of books, CDs and DVDs to enhance the various collections in the library.

So, the next time you are in the library, please stop in and take a look at our Shop.  Every purchase made will directly help the library.  And, if you feel you would like to donate your time in the shop, just let us know.
