Quiet Study Room Policy

Guidelines for use 

• The Fremont Area District Library has 5 quiet study rooms available for patron use (four will accommodate 2 people, and one will accommodate 4 people). An example of acceptable use of these rooms includes tutoring, homework assignments, study groups, committee meetings, discussions groups, interviews, mentoring, and counseling.  The rooms may not be used for commercial sales or business promotions.

• The rooms may be scheduled up to one month in advance by calling the Reference Department at 928-0256.  Rooms may also be scheduled on a walk-in basis by checking with the Reference Staff to see if they are available.  Use of the Quiet Study Rooms by library staff will always take precedence.

• A maximum of two hours at a time may be scheduled. This time may be extended however, if no one is waiting.

·        Current furniture arrangements will be maintained.  No alternate set-ups provided.  Lights will remain on.

• Personal laptop computers may be used. Electrical is provided; Internet access is not provided.

• No food, drink, or smoking is allowed.

• Patrons using these rooms must register by signing at the Reference Desk.  If a room suffers damage, the patron will be billed for necessary repairs and will be denied future use of study rooms. If there is evidence of eating, drinking or smoking, the patron will be denied future use of the study rooms.  Library staff will monitor activities and noise level.  Misuse of a Quiet Study Room will result in the patron being asked to leave the library and possible denial of future use.
